Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Saffron Walden, EssexJob Type: Full-time, PermanentWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to join a growing and innovative organisation operating in a technical manufacturing environment.
This role combines day-to-day warehouse operations with team leadership responsibility. You'll lead from the front-ensuring goods are received, stored, picked, packed, and dispatched accurately, while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and stock control.
Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Operations
* Supervise daily warehouse activities, ensuring priorities are met accurately and on time
* Allocate tasks across goods-in, picking, packing, and dispatch
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
* Ensure processes and stock control disciplines are consistently followed
Goods In / Receiving
* Receive, unload, check, and book in deliveries
* Verify documentation and report discrepancies
* Ensure correct labelling and storage of stock
Picking, Packing & Dispatch
* Pick work orders in line with operational priorities
* Pack and dispatch orders to required service levels
* Ensure packaging standards protect goods in transit
Stock Control
* Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and checks
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies
* Support full stock takes
* Identify and implement improvements to reduce errors and losses
Quality & Inspection Support
* Assist with incoming goods inspection processes
* Manage quarantine and rejected goods procedures
* Liaise with internal teams regarding non-conforming items
Health & Safety
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures
* Promote safe working practices and manual handling
* Report and follow up on incidents or near misses
Systems & Administration
* Accurately record stock movements using warehouse/ERP systems
* Maintain documentation for all warehouse processes
* Support improvements in reporting and operational accuracy
About YouEssential Skills & Experience
* Experience in a warehouse supervisory role (or a senior operative ready to step up)
* Strong knowledge of goods-in, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory control
Desirable
* Experience working with quality or inspection processes
* Familiarity with warehouse improvement methods (e.g. 5S, layout optimisation)
* Experience using manual handling equipment
