Receptionist / Centre Administrator - London Borough of Islington
Contract: Up to 3 month contract - Part time
Hours: 17.5 Per week
Location: Islington Children & Family Centre (or relevant centre)
Salary: £22 UMB per hour (£16 PAYE)
About the Role We are working on behalf pf the London Borough of Islington and are seeking a welcoming, organised, and reliable Receptionist / Centre Administrator to provide an effective front-of-house and administrative service within one of our centres.
You will be the first point of contact for visitors, professionals, and staff, ensuring a safe, well-organised, and friendly environment. The role is vital in supporting service delivery, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that safeguarding, confidentiality, and council procedures are adhered to at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for visitors and staff, welcoming them to the centre and providing information or signposting as appropriate
Monitor access to the centre, ensuring all visitors sign in and out in line with procedures
Provide an efficient reception and administrative service, including message taking, preparation of paperwork, filing, photocopying, post handling, typing, and data entry
Handle confidential and sensitive information in accordance with safeguarding and data protection requirements
Manage room bookings and coordinate arrangements for services and visiting professionals
Answer telephone enquiries and book appointments for centre managers as required
Maintain accurate records, monitor your own workload, and keep information up to date
Receive and record income and administer petty cash in line with council procedures
Collect monitoring information relating to service use
Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Council Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and centre policies
Attend relevant training and undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the roleAbout You You will be:

Able to manage competing priorities and work independently
Discreet, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards
Confident using office systems and equipment
Flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of a busy centre environmentExperience of working in a local authority, children’s centre, education, health, or community setting would be desirable.
