Duties
Support for Teachers
•Within this role the ICT Technician will:
•Support the installation, maintenance and technical upkeep of computer technology to facilitate an appropriate ICT learning and work environment.
•Administer the creation and maintenance of network user accounts and email accounts.
•Set up audio/visual (AV) equipment and facilities across the school, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, video/DVD, sound systems, etc.
•Assist in the preparation and use of ICT equipment and resources as required (e.g., for assemblies and meetings).
•Maintain an inventory of computer equipment as required.
•Undertake minor repairs on electrical and audio-visual equipment where appropriate and competent to do so.
•Maintain security and safety procedures for ICT equipment.
Support for Curriculum
•Within this role the ICT Technician will:
•Maintain a stock of consumable items, store them appropriately, and keep internal records to monitor supplies.
•Carry out component-level hardware repairs of specialist equipment where appropriate or possible, and/or report damage/replacement needs.
•Demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of ICT equipment.
•Give ICT advice and guidance as required, under the direction of the Regulatory and Technical Support Team Leader.
•Provide technical support to staff using ICT rooms as required.
•Prepare audio and ICT resources for use in oral examinations (e.g., languages)
Additional information
•Within this role the ICT Technician will:
•Provide support to the Regulatory and Technical Support Team Leader.
•Undertake break-time supervision duties as allocated on the staff rota, including covering during planned absences.
•Give priority to any issue relating to the emotional health and wellbeing of pupils.
•Ensure all activities comply with equality legislation and the City & County of Swansea’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
•Participate in training and professional development to maintain competence in the role.
•Take part in performance management/staff appraisal discussions as requested.
•Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
•Undertake any other duties requested by the Headteacher or representative, commensurate with the grade of the post.
•Work flexibly to ensure pupils and teachers are fully supported, and classrooms are ICT-ready and equipped for use.
Requirements
Qualifications
GCSE (or equivalent) in English at Grade A*-C / Level 2
GCSE (or equivalent) in an IT subject: Desirable
•Qualifications in any of the following: MCP / MCITP / OS X Support and CompTIA
•Good working knowledge of:
oWindows 10
oActive Directory and Group Policy management and administration
oTCP/IP Networking, VLAN, fault discovery
oO365
oPrinter deployment
oA good working knowledge of:
oAssembly support (including editing PowerPoints)
oTablet computers and mobile devices
oGoogle Apps for Education administration
oWireless networks
oComputer networking
oPrinters & MFDs
oAudio visual equipment
•Good interpersonal skills
•Ability to learn new technical content quickly is essential
Skills
