We are seeking to appoint dynamic Band 5 Community Psychiatric Nurses to work for Erdington & Kingstanding and South-East home treatment teams. Our base is Northcroft Hospital in Erdington, Birmingham, and the Oleaster Centre.
Team Overview
The Erdington & Kingstanding and South-East home treatment teams provide an intensive service to individuals aged 25 and above who are experiencing a mental health crisis. We work within a multidisciplinary team and are a fast-paced, busy environment.
Candidate Expectations
* Build skills in working under pressure, responding to crises, and delivering short-term interventions.
* Highly motivated, patient-centered approach to care.
* Experience in acute or community mental health settings is desirable, but newly qualified nurses are also encouraged to apply.
Shift Patterns
Team members will work a shift system over 7 days, with current shifts including 08:00–16:00 (Early), 13:00–21:00 (Late), and 08:00–21:00 (Long Day). Rotation between duties may be required.
Role Responsibilities
* Coordinate and provide specialist acute crisis psychiatric interventions within the service users' homes, 24/7, 52 weeks a year.
* Offer a gatekeeping service to inpatient wards, facilitate early discharge, and develop individualized care plans as an alternative to hospital admission.
* Provide crisis resolution support and advice to other agencies and team members.
* Act as a role model and resource for junior staff and students.
