What's involved with this role: Job Title: Valuation Surveyor Reference: Bromsgrove & Redditch RQ1643371 Salary: £24.59 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday Role length: 6 months opening assignment Job type: On-site Location: Bromsgrove & Redditch Contract Type: Temporary The role: The Valuation Surveyor will provide residential valuation services and support wider estate management work across the Council’s property portfolio. The post focuses on Right to Buy valuations, leasehold and freehold reversion work, annual asset valuations, and general estate management tasks. The role also supports commercial landlord and tenant matters and contributes to revenue-generating and investment initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Carry out Right to Buy valuations, lease extension valuations and freehold reversion valuations, including site inspections and preparation of draft plans. Manage leasehold extension and freehold reversion cases, issuing valuation letters and instructing Legal Services. Undertake annual residential HRA asset valuations and respond to ad-hoc RICS valuation requests from internal departments. Provide advice on landlord and tenant matters, including lettings, lease renewals and rent reviews. Process garden licence applications, including fee setting, and administer dropped kerb applications from inspection to completion. Handle property queries, including LPE1 files and service charge issues, working closely with Legal Services Maintain and retrieve property records to support continuity of service. Deliver a customer-focused valuation and estates service aligned with Council policies and strategic purposes. What the client is looking for: RICS member and Registered Valuer. Strong residential valuation experience, including RTB, lease extension and reversion work. Experience in estates management across operational and commercial assets. Sound knowledge of local property markets, landlord and tenant legislation and valuation principles. Ability to produce clear reports, handle negotiations, and work under pressure to tight deadlines. Confident communicator with strong commercial awareness and the ability to work across professional disciplines. Full UK driving licence and own vehicle. Desirable: Degree in a relevant discipline. Knowledge of residential leasehold legislation beyond core valuation requirements. Presentation skills and experience preparing strategy papers or business cases. Experience managing change and developing innovative approaches in property services.
