About the Role
Introduction – the ‘why’
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success and visibility of OUP’s academic journals portfolio. As a Marketing Assistant, you will support impactful marketing initiatives that help drive journal submissions, readership, and engagement—directly reinforcing OUP’s mission to support the dissemination of high‑quality academic research.
You will work with a collaborative marketing team, gaining hands‑on experience across campaign execution, creative production, social and digital media, and event support. The role offers exposure to stakeholders across OUP, including authors, editors, societies, and internal marketers, giving you a wide perspective across the publishing ecosystem.
This is an ideal role for someone interested in building a career in marketing and looking to develop strong foundational skills in a global, mission‑driven organisation.
Opportunity – the ‘what’
* Implement strategic marketing activities to support journal submissions and other key objectives.
* Use marketing tools such as social media, paid advertising, digital advertising, journal alerts, email, and multimedia to support campaign delivery.
* Draft marketing copy for digital and print campaigns.
* Assist in preparing marketing plans and reports.
* Communicate with marketers within the Academic marketing team to support campaign fulfilment.
* Work with marketers from other teams, as well as OUP editorial staff, on campaign activity.
* Engage professionally with authors, editors, society partners, and freelancers.
Event and conference support
* Support third‑party event and conference marketing strategies.
* Assist in executing planned conference activities, including engaging with delegates at the OUP booth.
Analysis and reporting
* Conduct analysis of campaign performance for internal reporting.
* Prepare marketing reports for external stakeholders, including insights and recommendations.
* Use effective time‑management systems to meet deadlines.
* Prioritise tasks and adjust workload as needed when priorities change.
Impact of the role
Your work will support the visibility, readership, and performance of OUP’s journal portfolio, contributing to strong author engagement and overall portfolio success.
