Teaching Personnel

Do you want to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs?

Teaching Personnel works closely and collaboratively with primary and specialist schools across Southport and West Lancashire, many of which have a high demand for experienced and compassionate SEN support staff. Due to ongoing need, we are recruiting committed SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

This opportunity is particularly well suited if you are:

• A psychology or education graduate
• A support worker or residential care worker for children or young people
• Working or have worked within social care, youth services or SEN settings
• Experienced in supporting children with autism, SEMH, ADHD, trauma or complex needs
• Confident using trauma informed practice and relational approaches

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, helping them access education while also supporting their emotional and pastoral needs.

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting children with SEN or additional needs
• Using trauma informed and emotionally aware strategies
• Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support
• Encouraging engagement, independence and confidence
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and safeguarding teams

Opportunities are available on a full time and flexible basis, with long term placements available for the right candidates.

Pay Rates

• £14.25 per hour – Level 2 Teaching Assistant
• £15.50 per hour – Additional qualifications or increased responsibility, including:
– HLTA
– EYFS Level 3
– SALT
– ELSA
– EAL

Support From Teaching Personnel

You will be supported by a dedicated Nursery and Primary consultant who has:

• 5 years’ experience working within education
• Specialist knowledge in SEN, LAC and safeguarding
• Strong and established relationships with schools across West Lancashire
• A people focused, hands on recruitment approach

• A calm, nurturing and patient approach
• Experience supporting vulnerable children or young people
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• A genuine interest in child development and SEN
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Formal classroom experience is not essential. Schools welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds in care, mental health, psychology, youth work and social services.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
