The EFL is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. The role involves supporting the day-to-day duties of the EFL Finance Team, including managing monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and financial analysis across various areas.
The ideal candidate will be a part-qualified or fully qualified (or equivalent, such as qualified by experience) Accountant or financial professional with a passion for delivering a professional service.
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will assist in the daily operations of the Finance Department while gaining exposure to accounting within an elite sports environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Preparation of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations within scheduled deadlines for all Group entities.
* Conduct analysis for business partnering with department heads, focusing on monthly management accounts, actuals vs. budget, and updates to forecasts.
* Maintain ledgers with the Finance and Payroll Officer for sales, purchases, cash book, and nominal ledgers for all Group entities.
* Reconcile and analyze nominal ledger accounts to support budget monitoring and forecasting.
* Assist in preparing yearly budgets in collaboration with the Head of Finance and Group Finance Manager.
* Support HMRC and Government reporting requirements.
* Contribute to submissions for the Office of National Statistics.
* Assist with system and process improvements for reporting and data capture.
* Manage company credit cards and perform account reconciliations.
FINANCIAL YEAR END
* Assist in preparing Year-End schedules and audit files for review by the Group Finance Manager and Head of Finance.
* Liaise with auditors and provide required information promptly.
* Help prepare statutory accounts for the Group's Year-End.
SUPPORT AND REPRESENTATION
* Represent the Finance team at internal focus group meetings when needed.
* Support the EFL Community Team when required.
About The Candidate
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING
* ACCA (or equivalent) part-qualified or qualified by experience.
* Experience in posting financial journals and assisting with monthly management accounts within strict deadlines.
* Understanding of VAT compliance (desirable).
* Knowledge of the external audit process from the auditee’s perspective (desirable).
* Familiarity with financial software such as SAP Concur and Microsoft Dynamics GP (advantageous).
TECHNICAL SKILLS
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Strong numeracy skills.
* Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
* Organized and punctual administrator.
* Effective communicator with excellent English skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
