Senior Occupational Therapist – CFHD (Band 6) – Full‑time (37.5 hrs per week)
Location: East Devon locality (Capital Court, Bittern Road, Sowton Industrial Estate, EX2 7FW, Exeter)
Provide a high standard of assessment and intervention for children and young people.
Work within the Physical and Sensory Pathway, collaborating with colleagues across other pathways. The post offers development and CPD opportunities.

Responsibilities
* Hold responsibility for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a caseload within the designated geographical area (Exeter, East and Mid Devon) within own level of competence and capability.
* Use a strengths‑based approach, ensuring clinical effectiveness through evidence‑based interventions, goal‑based collaborative practice and routine outcome measures.
* Deliver specialist occupational therapy advice, assessment and interventions to children and young people experiencing a range of difficulties in maximising occupational performance within different settings.
* Intervene through direct therapy, coaching, training, provision or recommendations for suitable adaptive equipment and specialist guidance for home or school adaptations.
* Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Technicians and/or Integrated Therapy Assistants.
* Mentor/clinically supervise newly qualified Occupational Therapists and Band 4/5 staff as required.
* Participate in the provision of student placements.
* Promote and support participation of service users across the service.
* Work across other geographical areas as required to support colleagues according to need and demand.
* Carry out assessment and intervention of specialised equipment and environmental adaptations as part of statutory work.
Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Diploma‑level specialist training or experience.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
* Post‑graduate certified courses specific to children’s needs (e.g. sensory training; ADOS, 3di etc).
* Membership of professional body.
Experience
* Work within trust clinical guidelines and Royal College of OT and HCPC standards.
* Working knowledge of national and local standards; monitor own quality and safety of practice.
* Extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice and specialist approaches.
* Extensive knowledge of legislation affecting clinical practice such as manual handling, housing and SEND.
* Knowledge and experience of a wide range of OT therapeutic interventions for children and young people, including but not limited to manual handling, specialist equipment, 24‑hour postural management, fine motor, sensory differences and housing adaptations.
* Knowledge of a wide range of OT assessment tools appropriate to meet a wide range of paediatric needs.
* Knowledge and use of evidence‑based practice and outcome measures.
* Well‑developed knowledge and understanding of legislation around SEND.
Other Information
Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per year.
Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time, Flexible working.
