We are looking to welcome an associate dentist to join our friendly, forward-thinking practice as we transition to a fully private model from April 2026.
This role is initially for three days per week, with Friday being mandatory. There is genuine scope for additional days as the practice grows post-transition.
About the Practice
Teeth For Life Dental Care operates across two sites (Magor and Caldicot) and has a long-established, loyal patient base.
The practice is entering a new phase of development from April 2026, with a focus on:
* Clear clinical structure
* Consistent patient communication
* Sustainable working patterns for clinicians
* High standards of professional practice delivered in a supportive team environment
Our aim is to create a practice model that allows clinicians to work with clarity, intention, and appropriate clinical time, supported by well-designed systems rather than diary pressure.
How We Work Clinically
Post-transition, the practice plans to standardise how we work to support clarity, consistency, and excellent patient experience. This includes:
* Structured appointment zoning (to protect clinical time and reduce diary chaos)
* Co-pilot examinations, where the nurse actively supports a comprehensive, consistent exam process
* Traffic-light treatment planning, to help patients clearly understand priorities and choices
* A deliberate move away from automatically pairing exams and hygiene appointments, except where clinically or practically appropriate
These systems are designed to support clinicians, not micromanage them, and are being introduced thoughtfully and incrementally.
Professional Development & Support
The successful associate will have the opportunity to work with Dr Barry Oulton (business and clinical communication mentor).
We strongly encourage participation in Barry's Linchpin course, which focuses on:
* More rounded, comprehensive patient care
* Improved case acceptance through clarity (not pressure)
* Stronger clinician confidence and leadership
The practice will fund 50% of the course cost, with the associate funding the remainder.
Clinical Interests & Growth
We would particularly welcome applications from associates who are developing a clinical special interest, or who are keen to do so over time.
This might include (but is not limited to):
* Endodontics
* Restorative dentistry
* Aesthetic dentistry
* Advanced prevention / periodontal care
* Oral Surgery and implant dentistry
We are open to shaping diaries, mentoring, and case mix over time to support the right clinician in the right direction.
At present, there is a clear opportunity for an associate with a growing interest in endodontics, as we currently refer out a significant volume of endodontic work, including molar cases.
What We're Looking For
* A clinician who values quality over volume
* Someone open to structured systems that improve patient care
* A team-orientated dentist who wants to grow with the practice
* Confidence to communicate clearly with patients, without pressure selling
This role would suit someone who enjoys autonomy within a clear, well-run framework.
