The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Locum Obstetric Consultant to join 27 other Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultants in our busy secondary care Trust.

* Resident Labour Ward Days and Nights with a Tier 2 & Tier 1 doctor
* Flexible sessions will depend on your skills and abilities
* Develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients
* Work effectively in a multi-professional team with excellent team-working skills
* Deliver clinical and quality targets agreed nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners
* Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) provides acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. The main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including A&E, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.

Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed within 3 months of starting in post. For a full-time contract, the plan is based on 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week with 8.5 Direct Clinical Care PAs and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). The plan is reviewed annually and includes clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities, as well as commitments and objectives linked to service improvements and trust priorities.
Qualifications
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* MRCOG or equivalent qualification
* Advanced Labour Ward Practice ATSM (or equivalent experience)
Desirable
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR
Entry Criteria
Essential
* Evidence of achievement of GMC Good Medical Practice competencies
* Ability to perform independent practice in obstetric skills including labour ward management (complex caesarean sections, instrumental delivery, 3/4th degree repairs, MROP, CTG interpretation)
