Contract Role: Associate Architect – Process & Governance
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in office (contractor’s choice)
Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6 months (potential extension)

The Opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Architect to join a leading retail technology team on a contract basis, focusing on process and governance within the architecture function. You will play a key role in supporting decision-making, enforcing architectural standards, and managing governance processes for solution designs – ensuring that technology investments deliver strategic value and align with business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support architecture decision-making and approval processes.
2. Ensure compliance with architectural principles, standards, and patterns.
3. Oversee demand management for architecture-impacting work.
4. Set up and run governance forums such as Architecture Review Boards and Design Authorities.
5. Track solution designs from submission to approval, producing weekly progress reports.
6. Maintain accurate meeting records, actions, and decisions for stakeholders.
7. Support resource planning and act as a delegate for senior architects when required.
Skills & Experience
8. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
9. Good understanding of technology architecture at a high level.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
11. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
12. Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
13. Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
