United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has a vacancy for a full-time Consultant in General Anaesthesia. On-call duties will be based at Pilgrim Hospital; however, post-holders are expected to operate flexibly across all hospital sites.
The Department of Anaesthesia at ULTH is accredited by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Main duties of the job
1. Provide comprehensive on-call General Anaesthetic services at Pilgrim Hospital and emergency cover during colleagues' absences.
2. Offer cross-site coverage across ULTH.
3. Participate in clinical governance, regional and national audits, service improvement, and report critical incidents.
4. Attend departmental meetings such as Clinical Audit, Critical Incident Reporting, Morbidity & Mortality, and Anaesthetic Department meetings.
5. Supervise Foundation, Core, or Specialty trainees, including workplace assessments and feedback.
6. Maintain responsibility for patient care and departmental functioning; involvement in research is encouraged.
7. Participate in departmental and organizational management duties.

Pilgrim Hospital, part of ULTH, serves a catchment population of 210,000 and offers a wide range of specialties with 369 beds. The hospital provides services including general, vascular, urology, trauma & orthopaedics, ENT, breast, ophthalmology, paediatrics, maxillo-facial, obstetrics, and gynaecology. Facilities include an A&E department, Medical Admissions Unit, and a combined ITU/HDU.

Responsibilities include participating in on-call duties, clinical governance, teaching, and departmental activities. The job plan will be regularly reviewed and updated.

Qualifications
* Essential: GMC registration, FRCA or equivalent
* Desirable: Higher training in emergency/trauma/vascular anaesthesia, CESR/CCT or working towards
Experience and training
* Essential: All-round clinical experience appropriate to a District General Hospital, equivalent to UK CCST in Anaesthesia
* Desirable: UK anaesthetic experience, IT knowledge, teaching experience
Motivation and disposition
* Essential: Commitment to service development, flexibility, continuing professional development, effective team leadership and collaboration
* Desirable: Willingness to share departmental workload
