Overview

The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced sonographer to serve as the Obstetric Ultrasound Cross Site Lead. The role involves leading the Obstetric Ultrasound service across the Trust’s sites, delivering clinical, training and educational activities, and representing the service to partner trusts within the Humber Health Partnership.


Responsibilities

* Uphold safe and effective service delivery for Obstetric Ultrasound across NLAG, working with service and clinical leads site‑wide.
* Perform a wide variety of obstetric ultrasound examinations, ensuring best clinical practice and optimal diagnostic imaging.
* Share responsibility for all aspects of the Ultrasound service with other Sonography Clinical Leads.
* Act as the NLAG SSS lead, ensuring adherence to FASP and National Screening Committee standards and managing a deputy at each site.
* Lead multidisciplinary image review sessions and liaise with DQASS on quality improvement and training outcomes.
* Supervise and support staff training within the sphere of obstetric ultrasound.
* Manage clinical governance, incident reporting and service audit to uphold imaging quality and patient safety.
* Coordinate departmental resources and represent the service at Trust meetings, contributing to strategic planning and improvement.
* Assist in overseeing staffing, sickness, appraisals, recruitment and performance monitoring.
* Ensure accurate documentation and data entry via hospital IT systems.
* Collaborate with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to unify the obstetric service across the Humber Health Partnership.


Qualifications

* Current and up‑to‑date registration with HCPC or NMC.
* Post‑graduate diploma in Medical or Obstetric Ultrasound (CASE accredited or equivalent).
* Professional qualification and relevant background (e.g. BSc Radiography or Midwifery).
* Desirable: MSc (or progress toward MSc) in a relevant subject.
* Desirable: Managerial or leadership training.


Knowledge and Skills

* Essential: Demonstrate significant experience working in obstetric ultrasound.
* Desirable: Specialist clinical experience in obstetric ultrasound.
* Desirable: Management or leadership experience.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This role requires a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
