As the Shift Supervisor at a coal washing plant oversees operations during a designated shift, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to protocols.
Key responsibilities:
* Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper use of equipment, handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to safety regulations
* Directly supervise plant operators and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed to ensure smooth operations
* Monitor production processes to ensure optimal efficiency and output, identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks that may arise
* Oversee quality control procedures to ensure that the coal meets specified standards, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary
* Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of plant equipment to minimize downtime and maximize reliability
* Maintain accurate records of production, safety incidents, equipment maintenance, and other relevant data, preparing reports for management as required
* Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, motivating and empowering team members to achieve production targets and maintain high standards of safety and quality
* Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise, implementing solutions quickly to minimize disruptions to production
* Maintain open lines of communication with other shift supervisors, management, and support staff to ensure effective coordination and problem-solving across shifts
* Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements, implementing changes and best practices to drive continuous improvement
Minimum requirements:
* Grade 12
* Basic Coal Preparation Certificate – Compulsory
* 5 years’ experience on a Coal Washing Plant
* Able to work shift as required by the employer
* Willing to work overtime
* Able to read and write in English
* Good understanding of safety standards and procedures
