Please note in regards to location this role can be based in the Manchester/Cheshire Area

Working hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and residential camps.

Interview Date: 19th May in Liverpool

We are looking to recruit a committed and practising Christian with a passion to develop and deliver Ministry with Children, a key mission area of The Salvation Army.

This is an exciting opportunity to work both as a practitioner in the local context - by engaging children & their families through initiatives to meet need and to ensure positive outcomes - and also to work as part of a team across the North West region where you will be investing in collaborative relationships with Divisional and local leaders to encourage and capitalise on existing Children’s ministry and to speak into new & emerging mission opportunities.

The Salvation Army ministers to physical and social as well as spiritual need and this role will work to encourage full participation of Children in the life of The Salvation Army with the goal to fully integrate and welcome them into communities of faith.

The successful candidate for this full-time position will have:

1. A nationally recognised qualification in children’s work or working towards it and/or good experience of working with children in areas of discipleship and children’s spirituality. [Applicants with transferable/ relevant skills will be considered]
2. Experience of mentoring & supporting children & families & children’s leaders
3. Practical experience & demonstrable skills in developing children’s outreach projects. E.g. Children’s clubs, Messy Church, School Based mentoring
4. Proven ability to be adaptable, flexible, think critically and creatively and work on your own initiative without direct supervision
5. Awareness of and ability to work within Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies
6. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends & occasional residential work
7. Full Driving Licence and use of your own car

This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
