Job Summary
Erin Houlihan, Matron for Head and Neck Services at Royal United Hospital (RUH) Bath, invites applications for a Head & Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist. This full‑time role (5 days a week) is part of the dedicated CNS team supporting ENT, Maxillary/Facial Surgery and Oncology departments, specialising in head and neck cancer care.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Act autonomously as a Head and Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist, delivering high‑standard care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues, improving service quality and patient experience.
* Implement the RUH Nursing Strategy: review practice, develop and audit quality/risk initiatives, create and evaluate treatment pathways.
* Educate staff and support patients through investigations and treatment, ensuring physical and psychological needs are met.
* Lead clinical service development and provide nurse‑led services within the community and acute settings.
Person Specification
Essential
* NMC registration.
* Experience managing complex patient caseloads with a patient‑centred approach.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Autonomous practice delivering nurse‑led services.
Desirable
* Evidence of senior leadership in clinical service development.
* Expertise in head‑and‑neck oncology clinical practice.
* Experience with altered airway management.

* Band 6 salary range £38,682 – £54,710 a year.
