The Children's Residential Support Worker role in Bristol involves working in a fast-paced residential setting that specializes in caring for young people with EBD. This position requires a motivated individual who can support young people's social, emotional, and behavioural development in a safe and nurturing environment. The role offers a competitive salary up to £35,000, with full-time, permanent hours and a shift pattern of 2 days on and 4 days off.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the management team to run shifts effectively and leading by example in a challenging environment.
* Mentoring newer staff members to maintain high standards of care.
* Encouraging young people to participate in activities that promote independence and personal responsibility.
* Maintaining a homely and friendly atmosphere within the home.
* Safeguarding young people from risks to their health and wellbeing.
* Developing positive relationships with children and young people, understanding their individual care plans, and supporting their unique needs.
* Assisting young people in managing challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically.
* Promoting independence while ensuring a secure environment.
* Working closely with multidisciplinary professionals such as social workers, psychologists, and families to deliver person‑centred care.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will have previous experience working in a children's support or youth care setting. A Level 3 NVQ in Children and Young People or equivalent qualification is highly desirable. The candidate must possess good communication skills, resilience, and the ability to adapt to ever‑changing circumstances. A full driver’s licence is essential due to the nature of the role and the requirements to support young people’s activities and appointments.
