Rig Surveyor – Mechanical (Staff)
We are seeking a staff Rig Surveyor – Mechanical assigned to our Aberdeen office covering predominantly Europe & Africa, however other global locations may be required in line with several global contracts that are in place with clients.
Responsibilities
- Join multi-discipline teams to support rig intake projects for clients globally.
- Provide assurance and verification of mechanical, rotating, hoisting & lifting, hydraulics, marine, power plant, mud processing systems and surface well control systems.
- Review statutory certification, maintenance management system data and conduct physical visual or intrusive inspection of equipment.
- Regularly attend vessel and rigs based onshore and offshore.
Qualifications
- Attained status of Chief Engineer, Mechanical Superintendent, Technical Section Leader, and be a member of a Professional Body.
- Served an engineering apprenticeship or attained an engineering degree.
- Experience as a line manager/department head, responsible for all maintenance tasks, recording of technical information, delivering technical reports within a drilling contractor, including but not limited to:
- drilling equipment
- marine systems
- hydraulic systems
- main machinery
- hoisting / lifting
- mud processing systems
- surface well control
- other rig floor equipment
- Be conversant with maintenance management systems, including condition-based monitoring.
- Experience of different drilling rig types, including design, generation, manufacturer.
- Experience with different types of vessels.
- Be up-to-date with industry codes and standards.
- Advantageous to have cross-discipline experience including:
- hydraulic systems
- marine & barge equipment
- health, safety & environmental management systems
- subsea well control equipment
- experience with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
