About the Role
As a Credit Controller, you will support the Finance team in managing the firm’s credit control processes and ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their finance or legal finance career who is keen to develop their experience in a professional services environment. You will work closely with senior finance colleagues, fee earners, and clients to maintain accurate financial records and strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting with managing the sales ledger and monitoring aged debt
* Supporting the chasing of outstanding invoices via phone and email
* Allocating and reconciling incoming payments
* Assisting with resolving invoice queries and escalating issues to senior team members where appropriate
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client account records
* Preparing basic reports on outstanding debt and credit control activity
* Supporting month-end finance processes and ad hoc finance tasks
* Liaising with internal stakeholders, including fee earners and support staff, to resolve billing and payment queries
Role Requirements
* Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or credit control role (including internships or junior positions)
* Strong communication skills with a confident and professional telephone manner
* High attention to detail with good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Proactive, resilient, and keen to learn
* Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Experience using finance systems is desirable but not essential
