Community Integrated Care is one of the UK's largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enriching the lives of people with many different care needs. Since the early days, we've grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. We have strong values and we're proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going 'the extra mile' for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
Who you'll be supporting & more about the role:
As a Support Worker with Community Integrated Care you will experience an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling role. Our Support Workers empower people with support needs to live the lives they want to lead.
There are good bus and train links nearby. In the service, we support four gentlemen with learning disabilities and autism, who currently and previously have displayed challenging behaviour.
Experience of supporting individuals in a similar role is required. A driving licence is also preferred for driving vehicles within the service.
The people we support are proud of remaining independent and are able to complete tasks round the house. They enjoy going out in to the community and getting involved with a range of activities such as swimming, local walks, cinema, going shopping, comic con, safari park, bowling, crazy golf and are open to new ideas, describing themselves as funny, energetic and independent.
Staff must be resilient when working in service and be able to come up with new ideas/activities to share with the team that may interest and stimulate the gentlemen, working with tailored care and support plans.
Typical shifts include:
- There may be some waking nights required during periods of staff absence/sickness, but these would be limited.
Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a male colleague is required. We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. Here at Community Integrated Care we aim to be a warm, welcoming and inclusive employer, where all colleagues feel they belong. We want to an organisation that is truly fair and equal to all - where individual diversity is valued, unique characteristics celebrated and everyone feels able to bring their true selves to work.
By encouraging and embracing a range of diverse backgrounds, experiences, capabilities and viewpoints, we will build a stronger, richer, more vibrant workforce, which reflects the people we support, and the communities in which we work. It helps us make better decisions, bring fresh ideas and become a true provider and employer of choice.
This publicly sets out the promises we've made to achieving this vision and how we will hold ourselves to account to getting there. Community Integrated Care is an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident employer.
