About the Role
Services across NHS Golden Jubilee are expanding, including the opening of the new Surgical Centre containing 5 new orthopaedic theatres and 5 new endoscopy procedure rooms, which will significantly increase capacity for orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic procedures, endoscopy, and clinical training. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Consultant in Clinical Microbiology to join the existing team to support the Microbiology service within the hospital. Department Details
The Microbiology Department at NHS Golden Jubilee provides clinical microbiology services to the hospital and processes approximately 65,000 specimens per year. The successful applicant will be involved in the day-to-day operation of the Medical Microbiology diagnostic laboratory, maintaining existing services and developing future services. The post holder will be one of three Consultants based at NHS Golden Jubilee, responsible for the provision of Microbiology and Infection Prevention and Control services. Support for CPD opportunities will be provided in conjunction with the wider Microbiology network both nationally and internationally.
Qualifications and Conditions
* Full GMC registration and a license to practice.
* UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR), or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
* The appointment is for 8 Programmed Activities (PAs), with no out-of-hours or on-call work.
* Subject to the terms and conditions for medical Consultant grade staff under the new Scottish Consultant contract.
Additional Information
Hybrid working arrangements are possible subject to mutual agreement. Opportunities for research can be integrated into the job plan where appropriate. The selection process will take place on Friday, 18th July 2025, onsite at Golden Jubilee National University Hospital.
