We're seeking a dynamic senior public health practitioner to join our team and drive meaningful change through evidence-informed action.
Main duties of the job
What you'll do
You'll be at the heart of work that seeks to address the root causes of health inequalities in Wales. Working collaboratively with teams in Public Health Wales and across sectors, you'll contribute to developing and delivering on several programme areas including:
* Fair work initiatives that promote healthier working conditions
* Addressing economic inactivity challenges that affect individual and community health and well-being
* Evidence-based resources that support public bodies to strengthen action on the wider determinants of health
Your analytical skills and creative thinking will directly contribute to Public Health Wales' seven Strategic Plan priorities, helping us build a healthier, more equitable Wales.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Public Health Practitioner will:
* Lead the delivery of national projects within the Wider Determinants of Health Unit
* Coordinate the development and monitoring of project plans
* Ensure that public health interventions and activities are based on sound public health principles and evidence
* Collect, synthesize, analyze, and communicate evidence to inform public health action
* Develop, monitor, and evaluate the delivery of project plans and relevant sections of the Public Health Wales Annual Plan
* Ensure that all interventions are co-produced with the public and key partners
* Monitor the allocated project budget in line with policies and procedures

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in health, behavioral, or social sciences. Extensive knowledge of population health improvement approaches acquired through a Master's degree, postgraduate diploma, or equivalent training. Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience
* Experience in a specialist population health role; delivering interventions and projects. Experience of developing and implementing health improvement interventions to meet identified needs. Experience of applying evidence or theory in public health programs. Experience in evaluation and monitoring of complex programs. Experience of staff, stakeholder, and public engagement. Responsibility for establishing information management systems and budget monitoring.
* Experience in formal project management methods.
* Knowledge of health promotion models, theories, public health principles, behavior change theories, change management approaches, and methods for evaluating complex interventions. Understanding of statutory frameworks, policies, and the political environment in Wales. Knowledge of determinants of health and methods to address health inequalities at a population level.
Skills and abilities
* Highly developed communication skills, including writing for different audiences. Ability to interpret complex issues, present effectively, and engage stakeholders. Excellent planning, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Computer literacy. Emotional resilience, adaptability, and confidentiality. Welsh language skills are desirable for presentations, note-taking, and scanning publications.
