Job Title: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator)
Location: Basingstoke
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: Competitive — commensurate with experience and qualifications


The Role

As SENCO you will lead and drive the strategic development of SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) provision across the Academy. Your responsibilities will include:

* Designing, implementing and monitoring the School’s SEND policy and practice, ensuring compliance with statutory duties (e.g., EHCPs, exam access arrangements)

* Overseeing day-to-day operational leadership of SEND provision: coordinating interventions, working with teaching staff and support staff, reviewing progress and outcomes

* Leading, managing and developing the SEND team (teachers, TAs, support staff) to ensure high-quality support and inclusive practice across the school

* Liaising with parents/carers, external agencies (health, social care, local authority) and stakeholders to ensure cohesive support for students

* Supporting staff development in adaptive teaching, differentiation, behaviour support and inclusive strategies

* Analysing data and outcomes relating to SEND students; reporting to Senior Leadership Team; contributing to school development and improvement planning


Candidate Profile

We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic professional who:

* Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and ideally a NASENCO qualification

* Has significant experience working with young people with SEMH, ASC and/or other SEND needs in secondary or specialist settings

* Demonstrates strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with a proven ability to lead teams and work collaboratively across disciplines

* Has a calm, consistent and reflective approach, with the flexibility and resilience to respond to a complex setting

* Is passionate about inclusive education, improving life-chances and making a real difference for young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
