An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Medical Examiner Service at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit/appoint 1 Medical Examiner, willing to undertake a minimum of 1 PA of Consultants time (4 hr session morning or afternoon). Weekend work on a rota basis is also required. The position is based at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary; this is not a remote role.
Applications are invited from colleagues in both Primary & Secondary care with at least 5 years post-qualification GMC registration. Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* GMC-registered medical practitioner with 5+ years' experience.
* Knowledge of UK healthcare practice.
* Completion of approved online training curriculum; face-to-face training within 6 months.
Skills
* Up-to-date knowledge of causes of death and death certification requirements.
* Broad medical knowledge for death scrutiny and learning identification.
Desirable
* Judgment in determining the extent of independent death certificate scrutiny.
Safety & Quality
* Understanding of clinical governance systems.
* Ability to analyze cause of death data for governance and public health.
Communication & Key Relationships
* Effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders like coroners, police, funeral directors, and registrars.
