About this opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to supportthe shaping and delivery of the Affordable Housing programmeacross Westmorland and Furness; through facilitating newdevelopment, including through the Council’s Affordable Housinggrants programmes, as well as overseeing the Council’s low costhousing schemes.
A varied and challenging role, working witha range of internal and external stakeholders, to increase thedelivery of affordable housing through the planning system,supporting Housing Association development, as well as throughmaximising the Council’s own resources, to bring forward newaffordable homes. You will support the development of newopportunities and enhanced housing services, through partnershipworking, alongside collaborative work across the ThrivingCommunities directorate.
Who we are looking for…
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamicindividual to join our Housing Development & Enabling team,within the Thriving Communities directorate. The post isfull-time working 37 hours per week; however, consideration willbe given to part-time working, as well as agile working andworking from home (subject to line manager’s agreement).
You will be highly knowledgeable with astrong background in Housing, or a related-field, andappreciative of the complexities and interdependencies acrossdisciplines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills areessential to further establish and maintain an effective team anddevelop partnerships.
You will support the development of keyhousing delivery initiatives, influencing and negotiatingopportunities for funding and service development, whilst beinghighly organised to ensure compliance with changing legislationand regulation. The role also involves supporting and overseeingthe Council’s low cost home ownership (discounted sale) schemeand Affordable Housing Grants programme.
You should be a team player but be able toorganise your own workload and be committed to providing a highstandard of customer service. You must have good written andoral communication skills and be competent in IT. You must havethe ability to travel around Westmorland & Furness to conductsite visits and attend meetings; a full UK driving licence istherefore essential and access to a car would be anadvantage.
You will be part of a flexible andresponsive Housing Team where we work collaboratively to deliverout objectives.
