Department: Child Development: Day Camp
Location: Wakanda
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Camp Director, develops an engaging creative arts curriculum that is age-appropriate and aligns with weekly themes. Activities should promote growth in skills, self-awareness, self-expression, and group relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation: Prioritize camper safety, create a theme-related art curriculum, document activities, and foster an engaging environment.
2. Model YMCA values, establish positive relationships, and maintain appropriate boundaries.
3. Lead by example, use positive discipline, and communicate effectively with staff and campers.
4. Report incidents, assist with special events, and participate in staff meetings and training.
5. Maintain program areas and supplies responsibly, and assist with camp transitions and other duties as needed.
Work Environment
* Moderate to high noise level.
* Up to 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, between 7am-6pm.
* Indoor and outdoor work, exposure to sun.
* Maintain professionalism aligned with YMCA mission and goals.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Must be 18+, with a high school diploma or equivalent; college experience or art degree preferred.
* Passion for working with children, understanding their needs, and setting appropriate boundaries.
* Commitment to diversity, effective communication skills, and current First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen certifications.
* Complete Child Abuse Prevention and Respect in the Workplace training within specified timeframes.
