Lecturer - Education Focused - Psychology at UNSW. The School of Psychology at UNSW is the leading Psychology school in Australia and offers world class undergraduate psychology degrees, postgraduate professional Masters training, and a PhD program. The Education Focused role enables academics to specialise in education and deliver high-quality teaching while pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience for our students.
About The Role
* $127k - $150k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
* Continuing
* Full time (35 hours)
Reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
* Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.
* Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
* Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
* Support learning progression with students as individuals (one-to-one consultations) and as a cohort (general course-related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
* Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.
* Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and minimum professional accreditation requirements (where relevant).
* Contribute to School meetings and seminars and participate in School/Faculty committees as required.
* Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
* Cooperate with all health & safety policies and procedures of the university and take reasonable care to ensure actions do not impact health and safety of yourself or others.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Active engagement with discipline knowledge and professional development.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., curriculum design and development).
* Knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning (desirable).
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and willingness to undertake relevant training.
