Job Summary
The market development manager is responsible for managing growth with new and existing
customers in a defined geographical territory and feeding back key market information and insights
to enable that sales growth. Specifically, the MDM calls on NHS hospital trusts, Integrated Care
Boards and private hospitals to create demand for PDI’s portfolio through presentation, trial
evaluation, implementation and on-going support. The region has a sales value from hospital
purchases which the MDM has to grow to a budgeted target.
Key Responsibilities:
SALES EXECUTION AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
* Conduct product evaluations, trials, customer training and procurement negotiation as well as tendering when appropriate.
* Prepares support and growth plans for all existing and new customers on the defined territory
* Prepare proposals for customers with support from internal colleagues
* Input into and execute the quarterly and annual sales and marketing plan
PLANNING
* Provide forecasts detailing sales by product and customer to the end of financial year
* Determine an executable sales plan for their territory detailing targets and actions
* Focus sales attention on key branded and newly developed products
* Focus sales attention on company initiatives as described in the sales and marketing plan
REPORTING
* Prepare a monthly report which details activity within the territory and progress against the plan
* Updates CRM system and links all activity, deals, opportunities and meetings
* Work with accounts colleagues on financial matters e.g. credit notes, stock management
* Work closely with marketing to support the launch of new products
MARKET DEVELOPMENT
* Work in conjunction with other functions to ensure a cohesive message to our customers
* Work closely with marketing, sales operations and supply chain to support the launch of new products and the supply of existing products to new and existing customers
* Feedback key market information to enable the development of strong value propositions
