Our client, a UK-leading independent metal recycling business, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of daily yard operations and lead a team of 10. This is a hands-on management role focused on operational flow, workforce coordination, safety, and smooth communication across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overseeing and managing a team of 10 within a busy yard environment
* Acting as the central point of communication between the yard, transport team, management, and H&S
* Planning and coordinating material movement in and out of the yard
* Monitoring weekly throughput (currently 300–400 tonnes per week)
* Ensuring all prepared materials are accurately recorded
* Driving efficiencies, productivity, and safe working practices
* Maintaining high standards of environmental and health & safety compliance
* Supporting with FLT and grab operations when required
Requirements:
* Previous experience working within a yard environment
* Proven experience managing or supervising a team
* Strong planning and communication skills
* Keen awareness of health & safety and the ability to ensure full compliance
* FLT or grab experience beneficial
Package Details:
* Salary: £40,000-£50,000 depending on level of experience
* 22 days annual leave + bank holidays + Christmas shutdown
* Monday to Thursday: 08:00–17:00 / Friday: 08:00–15:30
* Permanent, full-time role within a respected name in the industry.
