Our Acute Care Team is composed of a GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. We are currently building a new suite within the surgery to enable the team to work closely together.
The main duties include assessing and diagnosing patients presenting with acute issues, either face-to-face, by telephone, or through other appropriate methods.
You will also assist the nursing team with patients presenting issues beyond their scope of practice.
We are recruiting for a full-time Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our newly formed Acute Care team. Part-time or job share arrangements will also be considered. Recent graduates with relevant experience in minor illnesses and acute care may be considered if they are suitable for the role.
The role involves providing assessment and care for acutely presenting patients within the practice. The practitioner will work autonomously within their scope of experience and qualifications, with support and supervision from the doctors. This includes appointments within the surgery and occasionally visiting patients at home or in nursing/residential homes.
The practitioner must recognize and operate within their competence and adhere to the NMC professional code of conduct. To work at this level, NMC requirements for advanced clinical practice must be met.
The Grove Medical Centre is a large dispensing practice in Sherborne, serving around 13,000 registered patients.
