Job summary We are looking for a confident and well-presented individual to join our phlebotomy team. The collection of quality blood samples from patients is a vital stage in many medical investigations. The successful applicants must enjoy working with people and possess good communication skills. Based at Worcester Royal Hospital the successful applicant will be expected to work on the wards as well as in the outpatient phlebotomy room. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail is important along with basic keyboard skills and applicants should enjoy the challenge of working in a fast pace patient environment. Main duties of the job To safely and efficiently perform venepuncture on all patients requiring blood tests requested. Prepare patients for venepuncture, ensuring they are given the opportunity to discuss their concerns and individual needs. To observe and report any side effects or untoward incidents which may occur as a result of the venepuncture procedure, relating to the patient or phlebotomist. To contribute to the efficient running of the phlebotomy service on a daily basis. To adhere to the Trust policies, procedures and guidelines. To establish a relationship of trust and understanding with patients and other staff groups ensuring that a good public image and perception of phlebotomy is maintained at all times.
