As a Pagan Chaplain, you will play a crucial role in providing spiritual care and support to residents and staff during a pivotal time in their lives. Through worship, pastoral guidance, and faith-based programmes, you will help individuals find purpose, dignity, and hope. HMP Dovegate is a Category B prison in Staffordshire, housing up to 1,100 adult male residents. With a focus on rehabilitation and personal development, our facility includes a Therapeutic Community that supports residents in their journey towards reintegration into society. At HMP Dovegate, respect, understanding, and support are at the core of everything we do.
Responsibilities
* Function as a faith advisor, providing spiritual guidance and pastoral care to Pagan residents, staff, and their families.
* Plan and lead worship, meditation, and prayer at faith-specific meetings.
* Promote awareness of Pagan practices and coordinate recognition of seasonal festivals and other relevant events.
* Support residents in their resettlement by building connections with external Pagan faith communities.
* Collaborate with the multi-faith team to develop inclusive chaplaincy policies and programmes.
* Provide pastoral care during crises and contribute to the rehabilitation journey of residents.
* Contribute to chaplaincy administration and ensure accurate record-keeping.
* Carry out responsibilities across both the Main Prison and Therapeutic Community areas of HMP Dovegate.
What you'll need to do the role
* Recognition as a Pagan faith practitioner or equivalent qualifications as a Pagan spiritual advisor.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire others.
* Experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy, or related roles, ideally within a custodial or similar environment.
* A collaborative mindset and commitment to working in a diverse team.
* Good IT literacy and the ability to manage administrative responsibilities effectively.
