ROLE PURPOSE:
The Finance Business Partner will work with Mercia’s business units, providing finance support to MDs and fund principals and utilising Mercia’s systems to extract insights, enabling creation of board reporting and operational dashboards. The Finance Business Partner will also support on fundraising processes, production of third‑party data submissions and other analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General:
* Production of regular dashboards for distribution to MDs, Fund Principals and third‑party stakeholders.
* Support on board pack content creation for Mercia’s regulated entities and third‑party mandates.
* Provide support on portfolio monitoring system for Ventures team.
* Conduct desk‑based market research (not investment‑specific).
* Produce performance tracking against market data.
* Provide support on fundraising processes (VCT, institutional capital etc).
* Production of the VCTA data for the quarterly and annual submission.
* Provide support on divisional budget process.
* Provision of investment data to external parties (IFAs, reviewers).
* Production of other ad‑hoc financial analysis.
Data management and technical abilities:
* Design of Sage Intacct reports.
* Strong Excel abilities, model building.
* System minded, working to utilise the best system for each request (Sage, QuickBase, Vestberry, PowerBI).
Fund reporting:
* Provision of information for fund performance presentations, fundraising, seminars and ad‑hoc.
* Provision of information on fund performance, investment rate.
* Provision of information for IFA/commentator due diligence during fundraising.
* Production of competitor investment activity (charting the deal activity quarterly).
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
* Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
* Commercially minded, relevant numbers.
* Knowledge of legal agreements.
* Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with employees at all levels.
