Speech & Language Therapist (Paediatric)
Location: Hornchurch, RM12 (school and home-based settings)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary / Ongoing
Working Pattern: On-site, flexible delivery
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to provide specialist, EHCP-led support for a young person in the Hornchurch (RM12) area. This role involves delivering both direct and indirect speech and language therapy in line with the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), working closely with the school, family, and wider professionals.
The successful candidate will be HCPC registered and have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), language difficulties, and social communication needs. Experience using Talk Tools and PROMPT is essential.

Key Responsibilities
4. Deliver direct speech and language therapy of no less than 90 minutes per week
5. Provide indirect input, consisting of:
6. Three sessions per year (minimum 30 minutes per session)
7. Attend and contribute to termly meetings with school professionals (1 hour per term)
8. Complete annual reassessment of the young person (approximately 2 hours per year)
9. Oversee and monitor a weekly small-group social skills session (3-4 pupils), designed to:
10. Develop turn-taking and peer interaction skills
11. Follow a structured programme such as Attention Autism
12. Be delivered weekly for 10 minutes by a Teaching Assistant, with termly SLT monitoring
13. Provide clear guidance and strategies to school staff and family
14. Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and safeguarding standards
Requirements
15. BSc or MSc in Speech & Language Therapy
16. HCPC registration (essential)
17. Proven experience working with children with ASD and social communication needs
18. Experience delivering therapy in line with EHCP outcomes
19. Competence in using Talk Tools and PROMPT
20. Strong clinical assessment, reporting, and communication skills
21. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
22. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance

23. RCSLT membership
24. Experience working across home, school, or alternative education settings
25. Experience supporting social skills groups
26. Confidence working collaboratively with education professionals and families
