Job Overview
* Retail Security Officer role to protect the Waitrose store, its people, and/or assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and Waitrose key values.
* £13.50 per hour pay rate, along with numerous Mitie benefits (Save As You Earn, Share Incentive Plan, Cycle to Work, Life Assurance, Childcare Vouchers).
* Full and extensive training, including MAYBO and key focus on customer service.
* Company funded SIA licence renewal.
* Support and technology: National Operations Centre (NOC), body‑worn camera, incident reporting device.
* Deliver results that meet and exceed Mitie and Waitrose expectations by using all technology provided and following ASCONE guidance.
Qualifications
* Previous security experience.
* Valid SIA licence.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels.
* Energy and enthusiasm.
Main Duties – Operations
* Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements, as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
* Engage fully with NOC and Mitie management, using all provided technology (body cams, mobile devices) to report incidents.
* Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AIs).
* Review the published AIs, stay current with changes, and suggest improvements.
* Maintain a front‑line licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) at all times; obtain required additional courses as contractually required.
* Work methodically, maintaining a systematic and orderly approach.
Training and Development
* Complete all required competency training satisfactorily.
* Undertake continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
* Renew SIA licence 16 weeks before expiry.
* Use technology to achieve key objectives and develop job knowledge.
Security and Health & Safety
* Identify and report any health & safety hazards or potential hazards immediately.
* Remain alert to threats or changes in the work environment and take appropriate action to reduce the risk of disruption, loss or damage.
* Use common sense and initiative; involve others if a situation appears threatening.
* Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
* Complete accurate, detailed notebook entries promptly after any incident, forming part of the Incident Report process.
* Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
* Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the AIs.
* Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
