Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and creative midwife to join our maternity team as Deputy Practice Development Midwife on a 12-month secondment to work alongside the Lead Practice Development Midwife. You will support the design, delivery, and evaluation of engaging, evidence-based training across our maternity service. This includes creating innovative learning materials, delivering simulation and skills sessions, and ensuring all training meets CNST, CQC, Ockenden, and trust requirements.
Responsibilities
* Support the department in maintaining and improving high standards of care and safety across the maternity footprint by working with clinical and governance teams.
* Contribute to wider practice development work, including maintaining accurate training records, producing reports, reviewing national and local guidance, and supporting clinical governance activities.
* Liaise with the trust's Learning & Development team to share best practice.
* Be a visible presence in clinical areas to identify learning needs, deliver training sessions, embed new knowledge into everyday care, and promote a culture of safety and continual improvement.
* Foster a woman-centred environment that upholds the highest standards of safety and supports the maternity service in sustaining clinical governance, risk management, and continual quality improvement initiatives.
* Ensure midwifery practice is evidence-based, cost-effective, and regularly benchmarked against best practice.
Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified midwife with current registration and post-qualification experience in maternity care.
* Experience in education, training delivery, and use of simulation-based learning.
* Ability to interpret and implement national guidance and maintain accurate training records.
