Your New Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Technician, you will be a key member of the engineering team, working across all shifts where your actions will directly impact site performance. Your responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out maintenance tasks, including attending to breakdowns and routine preventative maintenance to minimise machinery downtime.
2. Solving breakdown issues and undertaking corrective and preventative actions.
3. Repairs and maintenance of PLC-controlled machinery.
4. Recording and reporting maintenance activities.
5. Conducting equipment inspections and determining appropriate work scopes and standards.
6. Creating and maintaining plant history and technical files, including current job plans to prevent delays.
7. Providing technical assistance to improve machinery reliability and performance.
8. Ensuring compliance with company policies and health & safety standards.
9. Utilising a computer-based maintenance management system to support maintenance functions.
What You'll Need To Succeed
* NVQ Level 3 mechanical / engineering qualification or equivalent (Essential).
* Minimum 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent.
* Experience in fault-finding on automated machinery.
* Minimum 3 years’ FMCG experience.
* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, reports, manuals, and files.
* Experience in installing new equipment and overhauling existing machinery.
* Strong knowledge of control systems, conveyors, mechanical drives, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Experience with TIG welding, turning, milling, and fabrication.
(Desirable) Knowledge of maintenance methods, materials, tools, and equipment in a modern plant; computer literacy; 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
