Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. The role involves developing mechatronic systems to enhance aerodynamics testing for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. You will work on designing, developing, and optimizing solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to our competitiveness in motorsports.
Responsibilities include:
1. Designing, developing, and integrating complex mechatronic systems for automotive testing applications.
2. Developing system architectures and specifications.
3. Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
4. Evaluating and selecting components from external suppliers.
5. Conducting system testing, analysis, and debugging.
6. Overseeing prototype and production solutions, including mechanical design, PCB layout, firmware/software integration, and testing.
7. Preparing technical reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in mechatronics engineering.
* Strong understanding of system integration, mechanical, electrical, and software design.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA).
* Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and programming languages (C, C++, Python).
* Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, and power electronics.
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master’s degree in relevant fields.
* Experience with automotive, motorsports, or aerodynamics testing.
* Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
* Expertise in CAD and mechanical design.
* Knowledge of control systems and theory.
