We are currently recruiting for a QA Supervisor based at our Llanidoles site, this will be a 5 day onsite role. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small QA team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the QA team to enable each of the team members to carry out inspection, monitoring activities and ensure that all dressed carcasses are presented to the required standard to meet agreed customer specifications in accordance with current industry standard and legislative requirements. To comply at all times with food safety, legality, quality and health & safety hygiene regulations within a physically demanding, safety critical environment. Responsibilities: Responsible for the day to day management of the QA team to manage an effective team to ensure that a range of routine tasks associated with inspection of carcases & monitoring activities eg sterilizer temperature, pre-start up checks, pH monitoring, microbiological testing, metal detection checks (CCP), product temperature/ label/dentition/scales & carcase scanning checks are performed at defined frequency. Foster great teamwork between Production & Quality teams to produce the highest standard of product consistently to meet agreed customer specifications. Responsible for ensuring all tasks are carried out within the allocated work area, are done so in a manner to protect product safety, legality, authenticity and quality in accordance with the Food Safety Quality Management Systems (FSQM), Health & Safety procedures and certification requirements. Liaise when required, with internal departments & external bodies such as the Foods Standards Agency (FSA), Official Vetinary (OV) to ensure site compliance. To be responsible for the proper use and storage of company issued PPE including knives. Provide data for the monitoring and reporting of performance measurement (KPIs) on product safety, authenticity, legality & quality related activities to the site senior management team. Be ambassadors for & promote a food safety & quality culture by their visible presence on site demonstrating behaviours & reinforcing our commitment to the highest standards at all times. During production ensure that product integrity is maintained to protect our customer & Pilgrims UK Lamb brands & act accordingly to report any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials to the Technical Manager. Responsible for undertaking Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits, start up checks and draw attention to the Technical Manager of any potential food safety hazards/risks or infringements of Health & Safety Legislation. Responsible for the identification, segregation & disposal of non-conforming product to prevent its inadvertent release into the food chain & for the scanning of carcase tickets transferred onto the detained line. Through the implementation of a full strategic training programme ensure that all members of the QA team receive the correct training, instruction and appropriate equipment to carry out their duties in a safe and competent manner. Lead, motivate and inspire the QA team to drive continuous improvement, to promote a positive Food Safety & Quality culture & manage their personal development whilst identify staff development opportunities. To ensure that the highest standards of personal hygiene as stipulated within the company hygiene rules are being attained & followed. Actively promote and deliver improved health and safety behaviours- leading the achievement of a strong Health & Safety Culture (and environmental awareness living and breathing the ethos of Safety is a condition. To ensure monitoring equipment is maintained in working order to ensure their effective operation to assure food product safety and raise any concerns with the Technical Manager in the first instance. When required deputises for the QA Team Leader. When required support and participate in OPEX meetings. Oversee the completion of quality production records to ensure that they are completed in a consistent manner, full & compliant & instigate any necessary corrective action. A person of calm logical approach with ability to build strong relationships to gain the trust and confidence of others through excellent communication skills with people at all levels. Team player with strong leadership qualities and proven management skills, ability to spot and deal with site non compliances and undertake action quickly and effectively when required. Demonstrate a commitment to his/her own health and safety and that of others in keeping with the company Health & Safety and hygiene standards in accordance with company rules & regulations.
