At Create, we collaborate with various established brands across London seeking skilled hand finishers and machinists. These designers produce high-quality garments ranging from loungewear to full gowns and tailoring. Our clients are looking for experienced and knowledgeable machinists to support their studio teams on a freelance basis.
This is a great opportunity for experienced Sample Machinists to work with some of the city's leading brands.
About the role
1. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a luxury environment, creating samples, VIP garments, and show collection pieces.
2. Work closely with Pattern Cutters and the Workroom Manager, employing high finishing techniques to ensure the highest standards are met on all garments.
3. Participate in fittings for bespoke garments, including taking measurements, completing alterations, and resolving any issues with the garment's make-up.
4. Ensure all finished garments meet the highest quality standards and are completed within the designated timeframes.
About you
* At least 3 years of experience working as a machinist within the luxury industry.
* Experience working with a variety of fabrics, from light fluids to heavier materials like wool and leather.
* Strong machine and hand stitching skills, with keen attention to detail and perfection.
* Willingness to work hard to meet company needs.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the studio team, including problem-solving abilities.
* A positive, proactive attitude, remaining calm under pressure, and ensuring company requirements are fulfilled.
Flexibility to work overtime during busy periods is preferred.
