Overall Purpose:
We have an exciting opportunity at the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (MLC) to join our Operations/Training Team in the role of Scientific Training and Marketing Manager. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, hands-on, and positive individual with a can-do attitude.
The Advance training centre has been purpose-built to deliver world-class practical and theoretical training courses. Containing two large meeting spaces, three breakout rooms, reception areas and two training laboratories, this facility not only hosts courses taught by the Mary Lyon Centre but is available for hire to external users and hosts high-impact networking meetings. The typical footfall of the training centre is up to 100 people per week.
The post-holder will support the delivery of training courses, symposiums, and networking events, ensuring that all available spaces are fully utilised.
Main Duties/Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and plan training events, engage with tutors and act as training lead
2. Develop, implement and market new training courses and events of interest around training and skills
3. Coordinate and help develop brochures/marketing material to publicise existing courses and increase stakeholder engagement
4. Attend networking events and conferences to promote existing courses and increase stakeholder engagement
5. Use data analytics and customer feedback to inform future marketing strategies and event-planning decisions
6. Survey training gaps and assist in the coordination of new training courses
7. Report on the training financial accounts, raise orders and invoices and, with managers, ensure that budgetary requirements are met

Education/Qualifications/Training Required:

8. A scientific background (BSc or equivalent)
Desirable:
9. BTEC (HNC/D) or equivalent experience in marketing
Previous Work Experience Required:

10. Has worked in a scientific environment
11. Has dealt with scientific academic requests
12. Has worked within a customer-focused environment

13. Hands-on approach in an event-management environment delivering on stakeholder requirements and dealing with requests and changes efficiently
14. Experience of raising orders and invoices, and of working with a financial focus
15. Organisation of the daily requirements of a building; reporting faults, providing information on grounds requirements, and looking for improvements in recycling and sustainability
