The role: As a senior leader in the role of Head of Transformation you will lead the development and execution of transformation initiatives across the Engineering & Maintenance function of British Airways. You will develop strategic relationships with leaders across BA to ensure Engineering transformation works as part of an holistic ecosystem. You will provide executive coaching on transformation approaches to the Engineering leadership team, aligning departmental transformations with overarching organisational goals. The Head of Transformation will work in partnership with the Central Transformation team to unlock value operational across both functions. The role drives transformational change from ideation to delivery and supports the aspiration to Build a Better BA.
Responsibilities
* Lead and be accountable for the development of transformation plans for all Engineering & Maintenance areas, aligning with BA’s Director of Transformation.
* Act as the Engineering Transformation Umbrella Lead to direct Umbrella Squads with direct and indirect reports at various management grades, including Programme Managers, Project Managers and PMO Leads. Direct the Engineering leadership team to prioritise transformation initiatives and allocate resources effectively.
* Effectively lead and monitor progress on transformation objectives and adjust as necessary to ensure alignment with organisational goals. Provide regular updates and reports on the status of transformation initiatives to central teams, BA Management Committee and the International Airlines Group Management Committee.
What you’ll bring to British Airways
* Excellent experience in transformation development & execution from airline and other industry sectors.
* Problem-solving ability with the capacity to clearly define problems, articulate options and make impact-based recommendations.
* Highly effective influencing techniques to engage stakeholders with opposing views.
* Strong ability to balance strategic thinking, creativity, planning, project and process management, operations and administrative execution with excellent communications and judgment.
* Ability to work at pace in an ambiguous environment with a bias toward execution.
* Challenge others constructively on best practice; strong professional development and people management skills; strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
* Proven track record in leading and delivering transformational change.
* Experience from consulting roles, relevant industries (e.g., travel, transport, aviation) and functional expertise (e.g., engineering, operations, commercial) are beneficial but not mandatory.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. MBA would also be desirable.
