Strategy Managers support some of the highest priority, most complex work in Tesco. You will help shape, mobilise and run cross-functional teams to tackle problems that are often new for everyone involved — keeping the long-term strategic outcome in sight while building a clear roadmap of medium-term deliverables.
The role suits someone who wants to build a broad network and gain experience across multiple functions. You'll bring structure where none exists, and lead peers and more senior colleagues to deliver business-critical priorities.
Our Strategy Managers are comfortable with uncertainty and enjoy finding ways to cut through complex problems.
* Scoping strategic priorities — defining the ambition, framing the problem and shaping the business case.
* Mobilising cross-functional programme teams and the governance around them, so the right people are in the room and the right decisions get made.
* Driving progress transparently — surfacing issues, risks, dependencies and opportunities early.
* Linking long term innovative solutions to strategic priorities – as Group level innovation capability also sits within wider team.
* Producing Board- and Exec Committee-quality outputs that are clear, well-evidenced and action-oriented.
* Demonstrable experience leading strategy development — corporate / business unit / category or product.
* Project management on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
* Change management — designing and embedding new ways of working across functions.
* Track record of influencing senior stakeholders.
* Retail, consumer goods or other large B2C experience advantageous but not essential.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Strong strategic thinking and structured problem-solving.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, landing complex messages with senior audiences.
* Commercial and financial acumen — comfortable with P&Ls, business cases and pressure-testing assumptions.
* Confident programme and project management — planning, governance, stakeholders, risk.
* Strong influencing skills — leading and aligning senior colleagues without formal authority.
