About
As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.
The RN provides care that includes establishing therapeutic relationships, respecting patient values, and effective communication with the healthcare team. The practice is guided by our professional model: "Achieving outcomes through Autonomy and Accountability". We value Nursing Professional Governance and use evidence and data to support patient-centered practice.
Responsibilities
1. Standards of Practice: Follow ANA standards involving assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, care coordination, health teaching, and evaluation.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Engage in activities related to ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, and resource utilization. Practice ethically and promote an environmentally safe environment.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: At least 2 years of acute care or oncology RN experience. Opportunity to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification encouraged.
Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, walking, exposure to infectious diseases, physical and emotional stress, and ability to assist with patient mobility up to 300 pounds.
Additional Info: 2 years of acute or oncology RN experience required; CT RN license; oncology experience and certification preferred; BSN preferred.
