Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity: Led by the Chief Internal Auditor, GIA helps the Group achieve its objectives by executing a disciplined risk-based approach to evaluate the effectiveness of the Group’s risk management, control and governance processes. As an independent function we make impartial, professional judgements based on the evidence we see and the information we are provided with. This allows us to help the business develop constructive recommendations to support the strengthening of the risk management, controls, and processes across the Group. The role involves leading risk-based audits from planning through to reporting, ensuring high-quality delivery and effective stakeholder engagement. You will manage end-to-end audit execution, provide independent assurance over the management of key business risks, and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders to support continuous improvement in governance, risk management, and control. What will your day look like? Develop an understanding of the Aldermore business and future changes and the risk assessment to propose audits for inclusion in the annual audit plan including coverage over new and emerging risks. Lead and deliver financial, conduct, and operational audits in accordance with GIA methodology, IIA standards, and within agreed timelines and budgets. Produce IA reports which are impactful, balanced and identify the root cause of issues. Supporting the business to develop recommendations that are commercial and e sustainable to improve the control environment. Validate the closure of recommendations and drive timely issue resolution and sustainability of implemented controls. Present on the reported findings (with attendance at pre-AC meetings where required), highlighting significant risks, control weaknesses, and emerging trends. Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business, from operational leads to senior management. What do we expect from you? Must have in depth knowledge of internal audit methodologies including data analytics capability. Good understanding of UK regulation and key areas of regulatory focus from PRA and FCA, including conduct risk, operational resilience, third-party risk management and consumer duty. Self-motivated and proactive in approach, able to act independently and on own initiative. Excellent analytical, influencing, presentation and relationship building skills. Experience of auditing in financial services/banking either in an external or internal audit capacity. Minimum three years post qualification experience. Hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA / ACCA / IIA). Experience in delivering prudential and/or conduct audits, with the ability to assess control environments, customer outcomes, and regulatory compliance is desirable. What can you expect from us?
