A market leader in their field who have being in existence many years of trading, currently holding a large order book, with major investments to support further increases within their market share and competitiveness.
Due to the major investments, an opportunity for an experienced professional with the ability to manage a multi-talented technical team to consistently deliver on business wide projects with both short and long term project targets.
The Procurement Manager, is responsible for acquiring the goods and services the company
needs to operate, while managing supplier relationships and ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
The Procurement Manager develops and implements purchasing strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure the quality of goods and services.
In essence, the Procurement Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that a company can procure
the goods and services it needs in a cost-effective, efficient, and timely manner, while also managing
the relationships with its suppliers and ensuring the quality of its products and services.
Key responsibilities of the Procurement Manager role include:
•Define, develop, negotiate and contract strategic sourcing solutions that meet the businesses’ needs and enhance profitability by controlling/reducing costs, improving payment terms, reducing inventory and optimising supply chain efficiencies
•Negotiate for minimising the cost of materials and get the best possible price
•Develop sourcing plan for both local and international sources, so that fast and effective sourcing options are possible
•Provide guidelines and prepare sourcing contract with trade agreement
•Procurement of raw materials and supplies based on the company’s demand and supply
•Evaluation of quality of raw materials so that right quality materials can be sourced
•Perform and analyse monthly forecasting reports to ensure optimal inventory levels
•Coordinate with production planning for contract manufacture to ensure customer on time delivery in full
•Support (direct and indirect) material spend budgeting activities
•Challenge suppliers and internal customers to identify and implement innovative designs, value-add specification changes concepts and materials
•Assisting the team with executing new product development; develop and implement quality specifications during trial productions and beyond
The job forms part of the management team working to the company directors, carrying out a variety of complex supplier negotiations and purchasing requirements for materials going into high value projects.
This requires interpretation of specifications in line with regulatory and quality standards.
Key contacts are within the management team and up to Director Level and with external clients and suppliers.
Key challenges include:
•Developing and maintain effective working relationships with key contacts
•Maintain awareness of current trends and developments within profession
•Generating ideas for improved work procedures
•Performing work in context of overall department and project priorities
The job holder should normally hold as a minimum:
•Industry-recognised certification e.g. CIPS
•Bachelor’s Degree in related field
•Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
•5 years within a procurement management role – preferably within the manufacturing sector
