Youth Justice Case Worker

To manage a caseload of children and young people involved in the youth justice system, delivering effective assessments and interventions to prevent offending and re‑offending. The role supports young people and their families by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive life outcomes.


Key Responsibilities


Case Management

* Manage a caseload of children and young people referred through the police or court.
* Undertake comprehensive assessments using **AssetPlus and other relevant tools.
* Develop and deliver tailored intervention plans to address offending behaviour and reduce reoffending.
* Monitor progress, review interventions, and maintain accurate case records.


Court Work

* Prepare reports and recommendations for the Youth Court of England and Wales.
* Attend court and act as a court officer when required.
* Support young people through court processes and ensure they understand court outcomes.


Intervention and Support

* Deliver targeted interventions focusing on behaviour change, accountability, and restorative practice.
* Work directly with young people to promote positive decision‑making and personal development.
* Support families and carers to address risk factors related to offending behaviour.


Safeguarding and Welfare

* Identify safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate referrals are made.
* Promote the safety, wellbeing, and emotional health of young people.
* Work in line with safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance.


Partnership Working

* Work collaboratively with partner agencies including education, social care, police, and community services.
* Contribute to a multi‑agency approach to supporting children and young people.
* Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.


Key Skills and Experience

* Experience working with children and young people involved in offending or at risk of offending.
* Experience completing structured assessments such as Asset+.
* Strong case management and report writing skills.
* Ability to manage risk and support behaviour change.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Experience working within multi‑agency environments.


Key Outcomes

* Reduction in reoffending.
* Improved wellbeing and safety for young people.
* Increased engagement with education, training, or employment.
* Effective collaboration with families and partner agencies.
