Job overview

We want an inclusive workplace for all - do you want to be at the heart of making this happen?

Are you passionate about creating an inclusive working environment?

Do you have a passion for equity and inclusion?

Workforce, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer, band 6.

If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Workforce team here at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals.

You will work within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals to ensure that the EDI agenda is part of daily functions and activities at the Trust.

You will support the Head of EDI in ensuring the organisation is prepared, compliant and performing well with relevant legislation, NHS Standards and guidance related to the equality agendas.

Sharing your knowledge and skills will be a big part of this role. You will assist and support staff to carry out equality analyses and actions, ensuring processes are inclusive and supporting action plan development that is relevant and can deliver sustainable change. To do this, you may be required to develop and deliver training from time to time.

You will be a proactive member of the EDI Team providing support and advice. By analysing data and staff feedback for use in reports, service feedback and presentations, you will support the development of ways to make positive, cultural changes in the workplace.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will proactively champion, implement, monitor and report on the development of equality objectives to drive up performance on EDI where required.

You will actively engage and collaborate with key external partners and internal teams and colleagues to support, advise and coordinate activities which ensure efficient/effective development and delivery of Trust action provision, maximising resources and funding opportunities.

Key to the role will be designing processes and documents for reporting, gathering and co-ordinating management information and intelligence necessary to monitor and assess progress. You will then interpret and communicate this EDI statistical data clearly through reports to relevant stakeholders using a variety of formats, including presentations.

Along with the Head of EDI, you will promote good practice to meet national equality standards and frameworks. You will have the knowledge and confidence to constructively challenge discriminatory practice in all areas. This will involve excellent and well developed listening and negotiation skills, especially where barriers to acceptance are encountered, and where equalities priorities may be seen to conflict with other organisational priorities.
