Job Description: Football Development Officer

Salary Range: £26,000 - £28,000

Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust is a charitable organisation associated with Yeovil
Town Football Club, dedicated to engaging and supporting the local community through
various sports and educational initiatives. We aim to promote health, well-being, and
social inclusion while fostering a strong sense of community pride.
Position Summary:
The Football Development Officer will play a pivotal role in the strategic delivery,
management, and growth of the Trust's female football and participation pathway. The
post-holder will lead on Post-16 girls football, Talent ID provision, Soccer Schools, and
Girls Training Centres, while also supporting Yeovil Town FC home matchdays through
community and football operations.
The role requires a highly motivated football professional with strong leadership,
recruitment, and organisational skills, capable of driving participation, performance, and
progression across multiple programmes. The successful candidate will be able to
perform and achieve targets within a pressurised professional football environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Post-16 Girls Programme – Head Coach & Recruitment Lead
* Act as Head Coach for the Post-16 Girls Football Programme, planning and
delivering high-quality coaching sessions aligned to the club philosophy.
* Design and implement individual training programmes to support player
development and progression.
* Lead on player identification, recruitment, and retention, working closely with
schools, colleges, grassroots clubs, and partner organisations in order to achieve recruitment targets.
* Monitor and support player welfare, attendance, and academic balance in
partnership with education providers.
* Manage fixtures, matchday operations, and performance analysis.
* Support player pathways into elite football, higher education, or employment.
2. Talent ID Centre – Management & Recruitment
* Lead the management and operational delivery of the Talent ID Centres.
* Plan and deliver structured Talent ID sessions in line with the YTFC Performance
Centre.
* Coordinate player scouting, trials, and selection processes.
* Recruit, support, and manage sessional coaches involved in Talent ID delivery.
* Maintain accurate player records, reports, and progression data.
* Establish strong links with grassroots clubs, schools, and academies to
strengthen the talent pipeline
3. Soccer Schools – Lead & Programme Management
* Lead on the planning, delivery, and growth of YTCST Soccer Schools (holiday
courses and camps).
* Design engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate coaching programmes.
* Recruit, train, and manage casual and sessional coaching staff.
* Ensure all Soccer Schools operate to high standards of safeguarding, health &
safety, and customer experience.
* Support marketing, bookings, and engagement strategies to maximise
participation and income.
* Monitor budgets, attendance figures, and programme outcomes.
4. Girls Training Centres – Management & Recruitment
* Manage the Girls Training Centre programme, including session planning,
staffing, and logistics.
* Lead on player recruitment and retention, ensuring clear progression routes
within the women and girl's football pathway.
* Oversee coach deployment and quality assurance across sessions.
* Support player development reviews and communication with
parents/guardians.
* Work collaboratively to align Girls Training Centres with Talent ID and Post-16
provision
5. Yeovil Town FC Matchday Support (Home Games
* Provide operational and football-related support on Yeovil Town FC home
matchdays.
* Assist with community activations, player mascots, guard of honour, half-time
activities, and fan engagement initiatives.
* Support coordination of staff, volunteers, and participants on matchdays.
* Ensure a positive, safe, and professional experience for all participants.
General Responsibilities
* Act as an ambassador for Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust at all times.
* Contribute to Trust-wide projects, funding outputs, and reporting requirements.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion policies.
* Maintain up-to-date coaching qualifications, DBS, and FA safeguarding
certificates.
* Work evenings, weekends, and school holidays as required.
* Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Sports Coaching, Sports Management, or a related field (or
equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in office administration, preferably in a community or
sports-based organisation.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle
multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work
collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
* Knowledge of financial administration and budget management is desirable.
* Understanding of the role and the sports industry is advantageous.

For a Football Development Officer to start immediately, candidates should meet the
following requirements:
* UEFA B coaching qualification.
* Valid DBS check (In date: 2 years).
* 2x valid References from previous roles.
* FA emergency first aid certificate (In date).
* FA safeguarding certificate (In date).
* Full UK driving licence.
